In 2014, MSC PILAR suffered turbogenerator 1st row rotating blades damage and journal damage. Our steam turbine department manufactured and fitted new turbine blades for rotating stage No 1 in record time and the journals were restored in our Laser Cladding cell, where their surface was rebuilt to original dimensions. After works completion the rotor returned on board where our service engineers fitted and tested it successfully. Since then it still operates excellent, contributing in fuel savings and environmental sustainability.
